I wouldn't mind one bit paying these crazy prices for parts, if the end
justified the means. Our cars, finished and complete, do not even
remotely justify the cost of the individual parts. My '64 Plymouth
isn't worth as much as say, the '69 Road Runner my buddy is restoring.
Yet the parts for his car are almost always a lot cheaper than mine.
Why is that? That's what troubles me about our hobby. Now, granted,
I'm not in it to make money on the car--I do it out of love for the ol'
girl. And yes, I do pay through the nose when I just can't find a part
anywhere else, and I needed it yesterday. But that doesn't mean I have
to like it. The bottom line: If I can't get the car insured for even
close to what I have in it, then where does that leave me? Oh, well...
