Dexron is the standard fill for all the pre-1989 rear-drive Torqeflites, including those that originally called for the old Type-A/Suffix-A fluid. Me, I run Chrysler Mopar ATF+4, which is a fluid highly, highly superior to Dexron and ATF+3 in just about every performance and durability category. Got the Chrysler engineering paper on the subject if anyone wants to see it: http://u225.torque.net/cars/tech/trans/982674.pdf If I weren't running ATF+4, I would run Mobil-1 synthetic Dexron. I would definitely stay away from anything made by Amsoil. There is no need for any kind of a break-in or waiting period before running ATF+4 or Mobil-1 fluid.
