Water leaks, etc...

On my '62 Valiant, I need to replace every seal and weatherstrip. I plan on removing every piece of glass and replacing the seals, including the rear window, even though it doesn't leak now, I know as soon as I paint the car, it WILL start leaking then. I guess that is Murphy's Law! About the only thing I can find for my car is the trunk seal! The rest I will have to find something with a similar profile. With your '64, you should be able to find the rubber seals and weatherstripping. I believe Metro and Steele, among others, produce them. Most places that carry old Mopar "soft parts" get their rubber parts from those companies. Otherwise you have to give them a sample of your "profile" and go from there. (I just restored a 20 year old van and replaced every piece of weatherstripping.)

Sometimes it is hard to find the leak source, since the water can come from the front and run to the back and visa-versa. If you are restoring the car, I would try to replace every weatherstrip, wiper pivot seals and also check the body seams, like on the firewall, too. You can remove the old nasty black tar-like stuff and get new, easy to work with and paintable seam sealer from any auto body supply store. Good luck!
