727 rebuild

A little off-topic, but I just bought a 67 Newport with a 383 4bbl and I 
assume a 727? It slips badly and I plan on changing the filter and fluid 
before anything else. I just want to make sure it's a 727 and if there 
is any adjustment to stop the slipping. How hard are they to rebuild? 
I've rebuilt 833's but no automatics. Thanks.
