Mine is the original length and it lays on the header collector.
I insulated it and made a heat shield for it as well.
The heat shield is a piece of aluminum conduit bent in the shape of the route that the cable takes. Kinda of a long, stretched out "U".or better yet, a long "L" shape. I cut the top part of the conduit off the full length, making it a little more that half a thickness of pipe.. I stuff the cable into the conduit. It can't be a tight fit, as it has to be removed to work on the cable or transmission.
It does make the cable burn proof.
I can't say how many I burned up prior to making that heat shield.
