Subject: Bad day today I've heard folks here talk about it, but today it got me for the first time...and it was a major pita! MY maxie 440 VAPOR LOCKED and stayed that way for a while. I have seen posts that blame the Edelbrocks for the problem, but I saw this only after they were bought and installed. Soooooo, Will an electric fuel pump overcome the lock and force enough fuel into the carbs for ignition? Is there a country cure for this I don't know about? This was a major embarassment today 'cause "Ole Dumbass" at the wheel ran the battery down trying to crank the beast. I'd like to avoid this happening EVER again if I can...Help please if you can. Bob Fortson list/ bob Also make sure you don't have any "rocket science" problems. do you have a full exhaust??? even turndowns in the muffler bay area will heat the tank to gas boiling numbers... fram G18 is a filter that will give you a return line...lot cheaper than the vapor separator deals..... i have heard of the wooden pins on the fuel line...i don't see how the wood radiate heat better than metal bale (bail) clips...but if it works...what can i say.... you would think A/C foam on the line to keep heat off would be better....also any leaks on the suction side of the fuel system will make "vapor lock" a beast that strikes hard and fast....
