There is no issue with the crank as long as there's nothing in the first step (where the snout on the torque converter goes). If someone has used a later pilot bearing, this might be in the way and need to be removed. Other than that, its as easy as you suspect - even the driveshaft is the same length on Mopars (if you have a '65 then the U-joint type will likely be different, with some exceptions). My advice would be to bolt on the flex plate, and then test fit the converter to the engine before installing it in the transmission. You can't go wrong there.
