I looooove my Carter AVS 625cfm for daily driving, though its not vacuum secondaries, runs clean and has excellent response. So you might try an Eldebrock? People will probably debate this, I personally don't like Eldebrocks for some craftsmenship issues in the linkages and such, but they are consistent, and better for the street than a Holley. I like to use a couple old carters I have for the street, and a big Holley 750 for the track. I run a single plane MP highrise manifold (super stock legal in NHRA) on my 383 so when the motor isn't turning rpms, that holley just fouls plugs. ----- Original Message ----- From: Sean B<mailto:polecat2@xxxxxxxx> To: 1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx<mailto:1962to1965mopars@xxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Tuesday, July 03, 2007 3:18 PM Subject: Any carb suggestions? Hello. I've got a rebuilt 1978 440 in my '64 Fury, factory 8:1 pistons, very small Schumacher shorty headers, stock heads, dual-plane intake, and mild cam--.460 lift, 220@50<mailto:220@50> duration, single pattern. 2,500 stall converter with 3:23 open rear. I'm going to bust my bank and buy a new carb, with vacuum secondaries. This car will never see the track, and will be driven every day. I am most concerned with it being responsive, and low- to mid-range power. I'm thinking in the 650 cfm range, but I just don't know. I don't know what brand to buy, either. Any suggestions?
