that's something i fell in love with back in the 80s. the only rule you  need 
to know is KEEP IT CLEAN!!!. wash the car thoroughly before you start and  
i'm talking every bit especially wheel wells around glass and under trim. run  
water under the trim as much as you can if your not going to take it off. you  
will rue a piece of dirt in your sponge/paper. be very careful of a speck of  
dirt. be liberal with the water. if your color sanding start out way high  
like 2000 grit. i used to block out the bodywork with 180 and recoat  it and 
block it out again and finish it with 400 and then use 1000 on the polish  side. i 
worked my way into a cadillac shop.
