426 Wedge 4speed issue

I have a problem with shifting my 4 speed.  If I shift under light 
acceleration it goes in 2nd gear smoothly.  If I get on it at all I 
can't get the shift lever to go down to 2nd.  I then just shift up to 
3rd.  Once I have driven a bit and come to a stop and try to acclerate 
lightly it will easily go into 2nd.  Thanks
