Re: SMS Auto Fabrics

No one is as bad as Laysons - Five years and I still don't have the part he was making out of my NOS piece. And no remorse. Dave Layson is in a class by himself.

Anyone had any work done by these guys?

After a recommendation from a 'friend' (kind of) over here, who had his 63's panels recovered by them, we sent our rear panels off to SMS for resto. We bought a set of front panels off ebay and had them sent to them too, to be recovered and returned with our rear panels. Well, apart from the cost being pretty high (cant remember off hand how much), they quoted 3 months to do the work. Fine we thought, that would mean we get them in time for our Mopar Nats over here at the end of July. Wrong. July soon turned into August. Just chased them up last week and guess what? "It looks like they aren't finished yet. I would like to have until the end of this month or early October. Are you O.K. with that?" came the answer. What choice have we got except to be "O.K. with that"! Wonder what they'll say when we ask again at the end of Sept? Hmmm...

Sounds like we have another Laysons on our hands, except at least SMS answer their emails.

Is this normal?

We're also having an instrument cluster resto'd at AutoInstruments. At least they seem to be on schedule. Should find out for sure in a week or two. Will keep you posted on that too.
