Paul, Not dissing Rich or anything, but you should have a bunch left in your rig. You should have blown his doors off. If you send me your set up, I would be very glad to help you get what is left out of your car just the way it is. Please do it off line. Send it to earlh@xxxxxxxxxxxxxx Earl Let me get in here with my reply. We were pitted next to a guy with a 68 Coronet 500 running a 440/4V(800 CFM), virtually the same cam as me, .391 gears, 255x14" street tires and he won the Big Block Street Tire class which I was running in. His time was over 2sec. faster than mine. He was running @7.80's. He was a great guy and gave me some tips. So I know I've got a lot more improvement left to find. The main thing he pointed out was my compression ratio which is probably close to 8:1 with my low compression 1974 motor. So It looks like the machinist will be getting a few $$ this winter. I'm also running stock exhaust. So I like hearing the comment read here on the BB that "the Schumacher headers drop right in". He also suggested my 625 CFM carb was on the small side for a 440. So now I've just got to follow through on a few of these suggestions and I'll be looking for a rematch.
