>From the "let sleeping dogs lie" or "if it ain't broke don't 'fix' (mess with it)" school of thought, stay with the poly. Your "(we dont have much money)" reinforces that thought to me, as even the most straightforward project often cascades into a money and time pit full of more "gotchyas" than fine print on a bank statement. The 318 wide block is a very dependable motor; "sweet running" is what you called it. The poly also has a "WOW" factor at car shows, since a lot of people think it is a "big block" anyway. :) If you dearly want more OOMPH on the poly, put on a 4BBl. If you want even more, up the cam profile at the same time. After that, if you want even more, put on TTI headers. You see though, that as you seek more HP the $$ input rises accordingly. As for the 361, it is a MOPAR Big Block of the 'B' series, so by definition it is not a bad motor; think of it as an adolescent 383. :) Gary H. sean dietz wrote: > > I have a sweet running poly 318 in my daily driver dodge, 64 4 door. > I've put near 7000 miles since january. i would like more power and have > > spent a bit on poly parts that i have yet to install, now someone is > offering me a rebuilt 361 for $650, and i have a trans for the engine. > i'm thinking i could off set the cost w/ selling the poly stuff,(we dont > > have much money) but everyone seems to chunk the 361's also .... ---- Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
