Gary,
I'm just curious. Did he paint the panels and the body at the same time, or were they done on different days with different mixes? A friend of mine had a 28 ford street rod painted that way (different days), with similar results. I helped him hang the doors, fenders and running boards one day, and when we were finished we stood back to admire our work, and were rewarded by two different shades of orange. The painter had wanted to hang the body parts back on the car for the final coats, and I encouraged him to do so as well, but he's the kind of guy you dont give advice to, so it went back to the painter for one more spray.
The car looks fantastic tho. I dont think you could have picked a better color, but I'm a bit biased, as 2 of my 3 '63s have been Ruby Red, including my present one. I hope you keep us updated with pictures of the progress.
