ken advice

Kens advice has merit. you gain from those maching operations other than boring will be zero or at least unmeasurable. Cylindr heads are where all the horses are tied. The rest is aboutt reliablilty after you look after the basics like compresssion ratio.
I am not a big stoker fan but have built several for friends although the OR build would kick their butt on anygiven day but here os where to spend your money.
Cc heads , they are always way larger than spec often 10% ir more. Without this you can not get even the stock design compression ratio. Big power here.
make sure block and deck heights are decent and equal.
Use a cam designed for you engine. With a big block mopar do not be afaraid of duration but avoid lifts over 540 unles you have aftermarket (eddy indy etc heads)
make sure engine is build to perfomance x clearnces , not grandmothers clearances . When engines are stompped on they got hotter than normal and parts need room to expand . .001" clearance on n any moc ving oapart per inch of bore or diameter will never get you in trouble. make that your absolute minmum and never never go below it on any part. if you error error to the high side . otherwise stuff rubs and when it rubs it scuffs ad when it scuffs it fails. Engines dont wear in, they wear out.
lastly AVOID tricks As the old commercial used to say Trix are for Kids and rabbits
