At the local "Geezer Drags" last fall a guy with a '68 Coronet with a 
setup quite a bit like mine was running a full 2 seconds faster on an 
1/8 mile track.  That's a big difference!  The biggest difference 
between our cars was the compression ratio.  There were some smaller 
things too.  But I'm convinced I have to start with more compression.
