There are not left and right pistons except in certain engines where the valve clearances are different (Hemi's for example). The pin offset is with respect to engine rotation, so it doesn't matter which cylinder bank you're on - pointing to the front in the left bank is the same as pointing to the front in the right bank.

If factory pistons have the pins offset, and there is a notch which goes
towards the front, does that mean that there are left and right pistons?

I have an engine with one new piston that slaps a bit, I am curious if
it might be for the other side.
