Re: NEW thread...Starting problems...now a stripped bolt hole on the block.

Hello, either drill it and tap for next bigger thread or use a heli-coil. Which ever way you choose, use a stud in that hole and put a nut and washer on the bottom. It puts less stress on the threads and is stronger.
Any more questions, just ask. I have been a machinist for 17 years.

Thanks all. Got a new mini-starter and it starts fine. I did notice when I
took out the bottom bolt on the starter, it was not very tight. When I put
it back in I see why. The threads in the block are just about stripped out.
Does anyone know what the 'fix' for this will be? Thanks again,

Sorry guys, I was half asleeo when I read this. I would still check all
wiring but I agree with the others there is probably a bad spot in the
starter.
Personally, I'd just replace it as its about due.

I think Earl is on to something here. I'd run through all the wiring
and check for loose or dirty connections. Check for corrosion at the
ends, etc.
Maybe pull the wires at the starter also and clean them up to make
sure your getting a good connection.
Check the battery cable ends too. Lyle
