Bingo!  Thanks, John, that's what I originally thought long ago, but 
what Dave says is spot-on.  I have seen many this way, clearly by 
design.  I have searched many carb books for the answer, but they all 
insist that ALL AFB's have the counter-weighted butterflies.  How in the 
world can something this big be such a complete secret??
