RE: header gaslkets

Thanks for all the responses. I tried re-tightening the leaking exhaust
manifold with no success, so will try the felpro gaskets. Since I've never
seen an engine without an exhaust gasket, I assumed they all needed them,
but really like the idea that I should not need them. I'll be getting new
headers soon, so will check both them and the head and see if I can mount
the header without a gasket, but I think this case calls for it, as these
old headers look like something me and my friends would have cobbled
together in high school shop class.

I know I'm getting mighty forgetful but I swear (nicely) that about 6 months
ago there was a big deal about header gaskets and Don D was of the opinion
you'd be best off without any. Quality headers should fit flush and not need
a gasket. (OK, perfect world.) I'll get back in my bed at the nursing home
now :-)
