Hi Todd,Transmission fluid in your car should be checked hot, in neutral with the engine running. It should be a nice bright red color and not smell burnt. If you have to add fluid, regular Dextron is the choice.

I have heard numerous ways to check your transmission fluid but am hoping to get the right way here. I have a 65 Belvedere II with a 318 in it (automatic). Should I check the transmission fluid hot/cold, running/off, drive/neutral?
