 if it was off a tooth it wouldnt rn at all.     I beg your pardon but it most vertainly will . it iwll just require a lot of distributor advance to run.  We often brought cars with jumped timing chains to the shop by advancing the timing. That was before you had to worry about bending a valve.  Big amaercan V8s.  Saveda tow call and we were ucky. One tooth is about 12 degress i think. I used to knw because i measured it once. Aftermarket dampner? I ALWAYS SUSPECT trouble with aftermarket parts. Why do you not remark it. it takes only a few minutes to doso. then you know for sure
