There are always vacuum cans,HA!! I agree with Don's assessment of 383's, my personal preference for an intake is the Holley street dominator slightly ported. Years ago I ported heads full time for Lingenfelter racing and in my spare time I flowed a stock 440 cast iron intake, a Edelbrock TM-7, a Weind 7512 and a Holley Street Dominator. The factory one flopped, the TM-7 wasn't great, I could never see the infatuation guys used to have with it, but the Holley surprisingly was pretty close to the Weind 7512, we have since used them on a lot of engines with great success, they are today I think one of the better designs and usually fair priced at a swap meet IF you can find one. I built a 446" engine for my brother using a Mopar.590" cam, ported 452 heads and a ported Holley Street Dominator that made 600.1 Hp on Koffel's dyno, this was a street engine and was built in 1989. Of course in a shameless plug, I do have a low deck Holley sitting on the shelf. I was in an earlier post going to suggest letting me do a simple bowl port and match but the shipping logistics would not make that economically feasible for you. You might want to look into those Comp Cams Voodoo series, although we have never tried one I have heard pretty good things about them. At any rate, Good Luck with your project.
