Re: AC-Heater control switch question

Thanks for the reply Gary. I see the article on repairing the switch but the
link to the article on modifying the 5 button switch no longer works. I have
a modified switch in my 63 Fury and it works fine. I'm just not sure if the
same switch will work to replace the 4 button AC switch in my 64 Belvedere
because the fan has 2 different settings with AC and I think there might be
another electrical connection for the AC. Can't tell until I take the whole
dash apart (again %#%&&%) to get at it. It was working fine until I put the
AC on Sunday and now all the buttons are jammed up and I can't turn the fan
or the AC off unless I pull the fuse. Even tried to manually pull the COOL
button out first but still can't push in any of the other buttons. Actually
there's a new 4 button switch on ebay right now but besides the fact I'm not
sure it's the same switch for AC I wont be buying it anyway for $395.00
Guess who the seller is. I wouldn't pay that for the switch if Frank
Mitchell came to my house and installed it for me.
Oh well I guess I'll worry about fixing it when I get back from Carlisle.
Hope to meet some of you at the Survivor's tent on Saturday at noon.
Dan

It seems to me it is a common practice to use the altered 5 version in
place of the 4. Just get the vacuum lines connected accordingly. There are
several articles about these switches on the tech page
<http://1962to1965mopar.ornocar.com/techstuff.html> and there is a vendor
in TX who will remanufacture your original to better than new (listed on
the vendor page).
Thanks,
Gary H.

Can somebody with a parts book tell me if a 64 Belvedere with AC uses the same vacuum heater control switch as a non AC car? I'd like to know if I can use a 5 button switch that's been modified to 4 buttons like the one in my non AC 63 Fury in my 64 Belvedere with AC.
Thanks, Dan
