Jeff it sounds like you're not getting power in the starting circuit
somewhere. Assuming you have a single and not a double ballast resistor and
it's hooked up correctly I suspect your problem is in the ignition switch or
the bulkhead connector. You could try the old standby and have someone crank
the engine while holding a spark plug wire near ground and see if you have
spark. A safer test would be to disconnect the neutral start switch from the
starter relay (so the engine can't crank) and have someone hold the key in
the start position while you check and see if you have voltage to the
positive side of the coil. (You have the negative side of the coil going to
the distributor right?) There's 2 connectors on the ignition switch that are
hot in the start position, one that kicks in the starter and the other sends
voltage to the coil. If there's no voltage to the coil in the start position
then check the ignition switch. If that's ok then check the wire coming out
of the bulkhead connector that goes to the coil in the start position.

Subject: Ignition issue - again
I know I asked this before, but I'm still fighting this issue.
Apparently, when the coil died on my Polara a few weeks ago something
else happened as now the car won't start while cranking, but as soon as
the key is released it fires. I replaced the resistor, but no go. All
connections seem to be good. I had this same issue last year and it
turned out to be something simple, but being the old fart that I am I
can't remember what I did to fix it... HELP!!
