RE: erthonal

Nobody I know likes or defends the oil companies. If we say anything
bad about ethanol we are pawns of the oil companies? Please. The price
of corn has quadrupled since the government got involved in buying it.
Thus, many farmers have switched to corn, creating other shortages.
Thus, it costs many times more to feed it to livestock, so meat and
cheese and milk go up. Wheat products go up, as fewer farmers grow
wheat. As I drive around New York, all I see are farmers' fields filled
with corn, now. I certainly don't blame them, I'd switch, too. Also,
we now see more and more tainted food from Mexico, as they are stepping
up to replace the foods we used to grow ourselves before this
government-mandated ethanol mess.

And I do, by the way, research all of this a great deal. The propaganda
on this comes from the government and the media, who don't like to talk
about these and other negative side effects. But the food in the
supermarkets doesn't lie.

Yes, we need to get away from oil. But trying to put out one fire by
setting five others is not my way of doing it.

I also know a few restaraunt owners, and they are all afraid of this
shift in food production, as they are paying more for every food product
since ethanol kicked in. And they'll tell you it's not just the price
of diesel that's raised shipping prices--the food itself has gone wild.

One thing I can say for certain. When the government gets involved in
fixing something, look out.

Sean
