I am not sure about Mopar motors, but i have seen and done many plugs on Ford motors the same as Stevan has described.

Flush with the outside of the block is good.

nervous because a couple of big blocks I've looked at had them in deeper
than that.  There is a machined ridge inside the hole--do you think it
is there to stop it from going in too far, maybe?
