Kevin, I have the 4 wire ECU. I checked my wiring this afternoon after getting home and noticed something that may be causing the problem. It seems from a diragram I have from the kit as well as one I found on the internet, that the positive side of the coil and the blue with yellow tracer from the ECU (may be different colour with others) is at the opposite end of the resistor. When I checked mine, it appears the positive side and the ECU lead are at the same end.
If you take a look at the diagram on this link, http://www.moparts.org/Tech/Archive/elec/3.htmlyou'll see that the red wire is at one end of the resistor which is also connected to the positive coil while the light blue is at the other end. I seem to have put the red wire and the light blue wire at the same terminal. So in other words, I should be moving my ECU wire to the other end of the ballast resistor? I'll give that a try in the morning and see what that gives.
I'll use your idea of using only one side of the ballast resistor as the four post is simply two ballast resistors on the same porcelain board.

It was used with the original 5 terminal Mopar ECU (I got mine from a 78 truck). Since the original ECU came out, they were rewired (internally) to use only 4 terminals and the need for the four post ballast resistor went away. (I bought an ECU from the Mopar dealer and it was 4 terminal). I was also at Moparfest on Saturday and saw a car wired with only two terminals of the four terminal ballast resistor in use. The two resistors in the four terminal unit have different resistances. Check which resistor matches the two terminal ballast resistor and use that set of terminals. This assumes that you have a four terminal ECU. If you have a 5 terminal ECU you need the four terminal ballast resistor. I keep a spare 4 terminal unit in the glove box so no matter which style of ECU I have it is wired correctly. I put the 4 terminal ECU in the car and kept the 4 terminal ballast resistor. No problem. I was told that the ECU simply ignores the terminals it does not need. Regards, K. crhubling@xxxxxxxxxxxx wrote: > > Hi Dan. First of all I live in Waterdown which is close to Hamilton.
