 Kevin I service mine all the time that way . go ahead.
Undo the brake lines and the emergency brake cables. (unhook the u bar that joins short cables to the long ones)  and ppo the cable housing locks in so you can push the cable back through the holes. if you have trouble a MH4 gear clamp will or MH6 will do the job. just tighten it enough to relase the cable but so it can still slide.
