rich, I hope you checked the new distributor also? I don't want to bag on the Mopar electronic distributor to much, but I've heard enough complaints about that vacuum advance plate... that as I mentioned before, I eliminated that part of the distributor altogether and have not missed it one bit! plus I can set the timing as Don D. suggested, at full adv. 3000rpm.
initial advance is no longer necessary. just my 2 cents Schuyler V. Wrobel Artist & Illustrator <artbysky.org> sky62@xxxxxxxxxxxxx On Aug 26, 2008, at 6:21 AM, Rich Kinsley wrote:

At high RPM the mixture will almost go off by itself. Anosciliscope willl show you this very quickly . Breakaway or off the lineat slowspeed requires the highest ingntion power. If you have a high speed miss it could be one of the following. Tach is bothering the ignition box, You have too much total advance(more than 36 alltogether) The engine is jetted over irch. The ingitioncontrol box has the initial M S or D on it. The reluctor is striking the pickup at high RPM. You are trying touse the vacuum advance as well which gves you far too much advance for a hopped up motor of the mopar variety. The cntrol module youare using has a limiter in it. I use exclusive to all others a Standrd Ignition Products module LX101. It is good to 10000RPM although Ihave never been there. A MoparChrome box would be a comparable part should this piece not be available in your aea. Also recheck you wiring. power is supplied atthe pointy end. The lower two are pick uo p wires andthe green wire isno longer used. If all else fails try reversing the pick up wires. All the best. This is the hardest work you engine will ever see. NOTHINGis harder on an engine than a Dyno. Don==================================================================== I tried to find the box you mentioned but had to settle for a NAPAEchlin box. It is hooked up right as there are no changes from previous and it was doing OK then. I know my electrical system is pretty frail asthe bulkhead connector fried off for the main power and is band-aid repaired for the moment. I want to redo the harness asap with the info regarding the ammeter fix etc.. In my last dist the reluctor did smack the shaft and busted chunks offit. I have a new Mopar dist now incl a new 35amp alt, new elect volt regand new ballast resistor. It runs good at low speed but not at high. I will lean out my secondary side and try that first.
