How big is the spacer? Was it running fine before you added the spacer? Have you done any other mods to the engine or is it basically stock? Is the carb new or used? I'm not an expert but I have read the HP Carter Carb book and a few articles on the AFB. I think Herb is right. The 1406 is based on the AFB and you probably have an adjustment problem. One possibility - the AFB depends a lot on a good vacuum signal and the spacer can be messing with the vacuum, causing you to stumble when you mash it. Other possiblities are mostly fuel related: clogged screen or filter, crud in air or fuel passages, leaking accel pump, misadjusted accel pump linkage or it could be a vacuum leak elsewhere affecting the carb. I really recommend that you buy the CARTER AFB Manual from HP books. It has pretty good illustrations, information and tips on how to get your AFB running right and rebuild it if necessary. Your other option is to take it to a good carb shop, let them know all the specs on your engine, trans, diff and chassis and let them tune it. Real experts can chime in now. _________________________________________________________________ See how Windows connects the people, information, and fun that are part of your life. http://clk.atdmt.com/MRT/go/msnnkwxp1020093175mrt/direct/01/ ---- Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
