Re: Dash Interchange

For the dash removal without pulling the windshield, the key is to go to Sears and get a wrench that has a socket on a flex coupling at one end. The socket is something like a 3/8 or 7/16" - just look at the ones you can get an offset wrench on to determine the right size. It's real tight between the glass and that line of bolts. You just can't take a socket and a flex coupling and expect to get in there - too close. That said, it's a very tedious job. However, sure beats pulling the windshield and the associated cost and effort.

I removed the dash in my 65 Belvedere Convert without removing the windshield. The fasteners were tough to get to but I went to Sears and got a 10 inch flexable extention and I was able to get at them easily.

If you can access the top dash fasteners near the glass you can get the dash off w/o removing the glass. Access is easy on some Mopars, not so easy on others. I bet the '65 B is one of the hard to get to ones; I know the '65 Barracuda is that way, with weatherstrip burying access. I seem to recall that Akron Don once reported using a batch of tiny tools to access the fasteners with the glass in and thus pop off the dash.

Gary H. -----Original Message----- ... The windshield was going to be my next question.
It looks as though it's held in with screws that are accessible WITHOUT pulling the windshield (but I have not checked the FSM or parts book on this). Can anyone confirm this? ...
