Dennis,

I believe you identified the problem as not being the large CFM fans but the 
absence of a shroud to direct the airflow.

Just like a 500HP Mopar with a bad driveline, it will never run like a 500HP 
Mopar and you will never cool your engine without a shroud; solution is to 
make one yourself out of aluminum with a rivet gun or adapt one of the 
junkyard plastic shrouds to fit your radiator; has to be easier than looking 
for the "replacement OEM" unit.
