"Come on sean. A 318 4 bbl is a great performer. Manifold and carb from an 80s 1/2 with the ra ochester Q jet works wonderful on these. Great mileage and power when you need it. A four barrel , unlike a two barrel does not need to be a compromise. The front primaries can be as efficient as possible giving great driving and wonderful mileage while the back big barrel stand at the ready for any emergency power needed and do that in a wonderful fashion. Sometimes we forget how four barrels, especially the Qjet and Thermoquad, are designed.

I'd love to go 4BBL! But the stock 318 would have a stroke, I fear. It's in a big ol' C-body. I guess I'll stick with the dual plane. Thanks, Gary Sean spigot2039@xxxxxxxxxxx wrote:Generally a single plane manifold's design likes a high-rpm situation; dual plane is more applicable with a variety of rpm use. I don't know why Chrysler made a 2-bbl single plane, given these assumptions. Since you'll have the manifold off the other option is to switch to an 4BBL. ;-) Thanks, Gary H. -----Original Message----- >I have to replace the intake gasket on my 1969 318 two-barrel engine >because it is leaking oil out the front end.
