Now here's a dumb question, trunk spare tire

Fellas:
On a 64 Plymouth Belvedere with 5.5 inch wheels, does the spare tire correctly sit on the trunk floor with its outboard (show) side facing up, or the inboard (against the brake drum) side
facing up? I have seen a few photos of finished cars that have the trunk spare mounted
either way. Seems to me the jack base would be clamped down on the inboard (deeper) surface, so that would be the side you would see when opening the trunk.

I ask this dumb question at this early juncture because the 5.5 inch wheels I was able to find are in very bad shape.
Its alot of work just restoring and filling the badly pitted surfaces on the outboard sides of these wheels.
Thanks! Donny, 64 Belvedere
