Ignition Light

I recently bypassed the amp-meter in my 1964 Dodge 880, Is their a way I can install an ignition light or alternator light so I know when it's working? I do intend to install a voltmeter at a later date but I want to keep this car as original looking and not clutter things up. I was thinking of a small led installed in the face of the amp-meter that came on only when the alternator wasn't working but I don't know the wiring circuit.
