RE: 426 Hemi question




They came out in '64 and I think they were kinda hard to get that year 
but a guy at the place I bought my new '64 got one of the Hemi's in his 
'64 Dodge. I just ordered a 383 since that's all I could afford. I 
remember it well because he blew the starter all to heck at Lion's 
dragstrip. He got mad at it when it wouldn't start and when it did fire 
he held the starter switch down and probably ran it up to about 6 grand. 
It looked like a big brillo pad. He did drive it mostly on the street.
