I believe Fel-Pro blue's are .043 thick, you can use that for your calculation.

All 413 car engines used closed chamber heads. I thought they all were at least 10:1 compression? I know the FelPro blue head gaskets will reduce compression slightly. Open chamber heads will reduce the compression ratio by one full point. Steve Mick wrote:In another thread, Layne mentions his 413 pistons as being 9.7 to one compression. I am assuming that is for an early 1960's stock engine. My question is: would those be for open or closed chamber heads? I am wondering what the compression ratio would be for those pistons with early 1970's open chamber 440 heads? And I know it would make a difference if it were thin steel head gaskets or the thicker composition gaskets- any input?----Please address private mail -- mail of interest to only one person -- directly to that person.
