Picked up a 1979 low mile truck LA 360. The pistons are .088 down but after milling, the heads spec 52cc. Using the Comp Cams camquest program and reading the "360 Dyno proven packages" leaves me totally confused. I need some recomendations for the cam for my 360 engine. 9.2:1 compression, 2.02 and 1.6" valves, stock 1979 iron heads with slight porting, Stock 273 adjustable rockers. 1 5/8" shorty headers, 2900# "A" body, very limited street use, 1/8 mile track 4.10 and 5.13 gearsets, 28" D.O.T. tires, 2500 RPM stall, cable shift 904 trans with manual valve body. Undecided on intake or carb. I really like the idea of a solid cam because it seems that it would be more consistent than a hydraulic. I welcome all opinions and recomendations. LA small blocks are new to me. I know the low compression and 2500 convertor are limiting factors, but that's what I've got. I'd like to keep the redline about 6000 RPM for longevity. Hope that Don kicks in here.
