Re: Break-in oil

If you want to know any and everything about this subject and any other lubrication information check out "bobistheoilguyDOTcom" heres a link.
http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php as far as the Rotella, I'm going to start using it in my Poly as well (on the next oil change) and have already started using it in my slant six. 5w40 full synthetic sold at wal mart.

The rotella has gone from a CI to a CJ rating, zddp is lower but still good for an engine already broken in. Really its about the best we're going to get for right now, as far as I can tell.

As far as why they are getting rid of zddp, as far as I understand it, its because its not good for catalytic converters. And now they want all manufacturers to warranty them for 150,000 miles now. I'm no expert, just done a little reading here lately, so don't take this as the "bottom line" by any means, read up yourself also. This is just the way I understand it at this time.

In short, get an additive for cam break in-- Use Rotella 5w40 synthetic w/a CI or CJ rating for driving. (if possible) hope this helps.
