I have a 46RH 518 in my '64 dart. Built by Wayne at APS transmissions.These things aren't known for being extremely stout in stock form, but theycan be built brutally strong with the right parts and approach. Mine isbehind a 500HP small-block but there are adapters out there to put it behinda big-block, the folks at Level 10 transmission in NJ used to sell one. In addition to the OD, most but not all of these are lock-up units and as such use a very different converter than a reg. 727. I had Dynamic rebuildand re-do the stall on the stock converter. It still needs more, lots more.Not sure how it would go on a B-body, but I can tell you that putting one inan early A-body is not a weekend-type job, and I bet its not too much different in a B-body.I also have no idea why in the world you'd go though all that work to put inthe A-500. Unlike, say, a GM-based unit that Keisler sells, the Chrysler 500 and 518 both have massive OD attachments to the back of the main case. Now think, do you want a 904 or a 727 behind your big block? For about the same price, and the same amount of hacking/fab work, its a no-brainer. If you are seriously thinking of putting one in, email me off-list and Iwill tell you my experience.
