Rich mention he had removed his adjustment plates. My thought is there
enough air to be "scooped" under the wheel well? Some type of ducting to
below the bumber? Every thing would be out of sight.. out the eng
compartment.
I am running a 2600 cfm cooling fan. A sidewinder from Mattson radiator and
you can feel the air sucking in a foot in front of the grill. I do have the
rubber seal u are talking about. I have also put foam between my AC
condenser and the radiator to force all air thru the radiator and
condenser..
I am not running headers put like the idea of wrapping the exhaust pipes
until they pass the firewall.
I do like the idea of some type of scoop under the front bumper.
Another thought I have. I have a hood scoop. Not functional, but a hemi
scoop. Been thinking of drilling holes up under the scoop. The scoop will
force this air in the eng compartment. That all seems great until you run
into some rain.(wifes vision)
I do have another hood...leave it original and have a winter and summer
hood? Come on Teresa, time to swap out hoods....not so sure about this???
I do good until the temp passes 95..which now seems to be the norm...global
warming?
One thing about swiss cheesing my radiator support.......its a one way deal.
I do agree...plan it out before u start drilling!

Ollie, I don.t know if the holes would be a good idea It has been said
that you should even have the rubber flap that goes from the hood to the
top of the radiator in place so that all the air that comes through the
grill is forced to go through the radiator. That flap missing could be
part of an under-cooling problem. What if you took off the inner fender
plates that give access to the top A arm , and fabricated scoops to funnel
in more cool air to the

Great news and still issues...but u have made headway Rich!
We talked about more air to the eng compartment. After studying the
situation....what u think of this? I want to go to Lowes and get the
biggest bit I can for my 1/2 drill and make the radiator support shield
look like swiss cheese directly behind the grill. I am open for your
thoughts?

Well I took the hood off my car. That settled the underhood heat issue.
It runs almost cold now. Engine heat is not an issue and the carbs are
very cool. The fuel line is a little hot but should be OK.
I let it idle a long time to give it a good test. Everything nice and
cool. Then I took it for a drive. I went to NAPA. Then was headed down
the street to Office Depot. It died on me as I was taking off from a
stop light in a big intersection (132/L). Luckily I coasted across. It
would not fire. It set about 2 minutes (felt like a loooong time) and
then it did fire up. Then after I got it going again it started breaking
up on me again. Popping and sputting. I know that ignition is OK now.
The heat isn't a big deal either. I believe now that the carbs may be
slopping too much gas in the manifold. I did see some laying in the
plenum before. I'll go back in and rethink the set-up again. Firstly I'm
going to reduce the accel pump nozzles back to where they were. I'll get
this licked yet !!!!
