The Mopar Electronic Ignition is very simple. All the box does is take a small signal from the distributer and switch battery power to the coil through a ballast resistor. The distributer does all of the advance work, both vacuum and mechanical, the box does not in any way modify the advance. I just removed my Mopar setup because I didn't want the box mounted under the hood of my 63 Sport Fury and I wanted a Rev Limiter, I have a 4-speed. I went with the Pertronix Billet Flame Thrower III distributer. It has the rev limiter built in. It ships set at 5500 rpm and is adjustable from 4000 to 9000 rpm. It came with 24 degrees total mechanical advance but it has springs and limiters to adjust total advance and curve. I put in 20 degree limiters and set my base advance at 14 degrees for a total of 34 degrees and did not change gthe curve. Connection of the unit was very simple, I jumpered the ballast resistor, the wire from the ballest resistor goes to the + terminal of the coil. The distributer has a red wire that goes to the + of the coil and a black wire that goes to the - terminal of the coil - DONE! Well almost, the billet distributor is larger, I had to grind a corner of the head casting to allow it to drop down. I had to grind the corner flange off of my Cal Custom valve cover to give room for the distributor to turn, I had to re-route my fuel line and it is very close to one of the heater hoses. Having said all of tha I am absolutely happy with the installation. Just my adventures with my 383 SF.
