Re: Carpet and pad?

I was going to order a carpet from SMS, they said "The carpet set is padded in the appropriate areas, as was the original".
$229.00 plus shipping for there carpet set.

I'd like more details on this place in the San Fernando Valley as I'm not to far from there.

I was thinking of putting some of that insulating foam and foil stuff under the carpet, also?.

Subject: Carpet and pad?

Hi all,

I got this carpet question from a fellow. See below. Does anyone have suggestions or a workaround? I assume the situation he describes applies to '62 - '65 B & A body cars too.

Thanks,

Gary H.

"I have decided to replace the carpet in a 1965 Chrysler 300. I am having a hard time finding any reproductions that measure up to the original. The original carpet has heavy jute padding on the back that pretty much covers the entire back of the carpet - everywhere except where the seat tracks bolt down and where the carpet lips over the rocker panel. The reproductions I have found pretty much just pad the foot wells, and maybe over the hump if you are lucky. Is there replacement carpet that they felt truly lived up to the original in terms of padding and quality?"
