Lube it. Vaseline. Cable comes out inside the car after removing it from the speedo head . Not that hard to do. Keep it coiled as you remove to keep from getting it dirty or dusty. Smear some vaseline on it or dielectric grease and shove it back in the cable housing , reinstall and go for a nice quiet drive for the next ten years.
