That is right about the crank flange.The extended flange did not use a flex 
plate. It used a converter with the starter ring on it and studs in the 
converter which went thru un-threaded holes in the crank flange attached 
with star washers and nuts on the engine side of the 
flange..............MO.......sw  iowa
