RE: 8.75 Axle End Play

I just put a complete differential from a 65 Coronet in my 63 SF.  I 
pulled it down to clean and check the general condition, when I put it 
back together I didn't have any trouble with the adjuster.

Did you install both the metal and foam gaskets on each side?  The 65 I 
have did not use shims like my old 63 unit with the tappered axles.

Did you just change the gears in the gear set or did you change the 
complete 3rd member?

If you changed the complete 3rd member what year differential did it 
come out of?

If anything has been changed and the differential does not have the 
original axles and 3rd member this may help:

I have read over this enough to be complete confused, maybe you will 
understand it.  

Good Luck and keep us posted.  I want to change my 3rd member, currently 
2.94 gears to a 3.23 or 3.55 someday and I am concerned about runnig 
into problems such as you are having.
