Re: My findings on resistors

Rich, speaking of the drags, are you still planning on making the Pacific Jct. old geezer drags? My son lives in Glenwwod and we were talking today about attending . What is the date?,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,MO ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rich Kinsley" <rlkinsley@xxxxxxxxx>

Subject: My findings on resistors

I know I hate to even mention this but here's an issue that raised it's
head today. After I got the fuel system all corrected and working I took
the car for a cruise. I gave it a run and it started to miss a little at
about 4800rpm. I had my Mopar electronic supplied ballast resistor
hooked up. I pulled over and by-passed it. Then I had NO miss all the
way up to 5400rpm.

When I got home I checked my resistor and found it to be a 1.5ohm. I got
out my old stock resistor and it was a .8 ohm. So I put it back on and
tried it with no miss at 5400rpm either. I believe it was said the Mopar
ignition should have a .25ohm resistor?? So why did they send the 1.5??
Oh well. It seems the .8 is a compromise. The reason I even put a
resistor back in the circuit is because the car died at idle as if the
switch were turned off and the coil was very hot. So maybe????

I think I'll try the stock one awhile and when I hit the drags I'll
by-pass it for the short runs.
