Just a theory--- if there was some air space or vacume space in a coil to 
allow for heat expansoion of the oil inside, and the coil was upside down, 
It would leave the gap at the top(bottom of the coil) With the coil on its 
side the gap would be thinner because it is longer.. Us old guys say " if 
you can't beat them with brilliance, then baffle em with bull**** "
