Re: B body disc brakes

My conversion for my 64 Sport Fury is mostly parts for a 73 Dart. I doubt that I'll ever even replace the disc pads on this car, just want the reliability of discs on the freeway. While the rotors aren't available over the counter, everything else is. I may not be satisfied with the smaller rotors I'm using, but we'll see. I want to use my 14" steel wheels on this car. I'll post the test-drive results of my conversion along with manufacturer and part numbers of what I used when done. May be helpful to others. I'll be converting my other 64 Sport Fury as well, but will go with an MP setup which has big slotted rotors, etc. 15" wheels and tires make sense to me for that car.

But realistically, when do you think you will ever have to replace your
entire brake system? Maybe once when you are restoring the car and with the
limited driving of most cars, proper storage and attention they get you will
never do the conversion again in your lifetime. I think there is nothing
wrong with the kits that use different parts. Just do what I do with my
other hot rods, have a log book that stays with the car with the parts and
part numbers and you will be okay, if you break down and need a certain
part. How many guys here actually take the car on more than a few long trips
a year that you would not be close to a parts store. I don't know about the
rest of the world but here in Canada alot of parts stores do not have parts
books now for pre 79 and usually there is a pimply faced kid who is serving
you at the counter and he does not even know what a Dodge Coronet is from a
Hyundai. But if you give him a make and model of a newer part, they can look
it up for you fine, although they still ask you what motor it has and if it
has air conditioning when you want a windshield wiper!! If you have access
to a salvage yard then fine, but if not order the kit. Most of these kits
are made by fellow enthusiasts who have taken the time to source the
cheapest alternative to stock parts and would not sell something that is
dangerous.
Just my 2 cents.
cheers

That is the exact setup I also used Bill. Besides being easier,it's all
Mopar. Wandering through the salvage yard was also fun.
